New Zealand Kohatu Hop Profile
Kohatu® hops were released in 2011 by the New Zealand Institute for Plant and Food Research; a descendant of Hallertau Mittelfrüh and a New Zealand male. Kohatu® is named after a small town in New Zealand, originating from the Māori word for "stone." Moderate in alpha (6-7%) but high in oils and flavor, Kohatu® imparts a complex woodsy and resinous character backed by fresh, tropical fruit. Blend with other complementary hops or use it on its own — this dual-purpose variety can stand in a variety of modern ale styles.
